The story

Before, how, and after.

The storyShot by Khris

Before: the old Motion Media logo, a camera with an M, and an Instagram profile with 1 post and 11 followers.
BeforeKhris is a young Wisconsin photographer who shoots DJ nights and events in Milwaukee, Madison, and Chicago. He started out as “Motion Media”: a stock-style camera logo that could belong to any videographer, on an Instagram with 1 post and 11 followers. Nothing told people who he was, what he shot, or how to book him.

HowWe started with the name, not the logo. We went through options with him and landed on Shot by Khris, the exact credit people already type when they tag him, so the brand and the tag became one line. Black and red came from the nightlife he shoots and the account that inspired him. The blackletter K was built to read at 40 pixels in the corner of a photo, and we delivered only what he’d use every day: a logo suite, a watermark, and a profile kit.
AfterNow he has a real identity: a mark that’s his, his name on every photo that gets shared, and a profile that looks like the nights he shoots. His Instagram went from 11 followers to 53 and counting, and DJs know exactly who to tag.
